Serious Issues...

I'm having some serious issues with re-designing my blog. I have found a number of backgrounds from the websites that I've always used & every time I try to change the background & preview my blog the operation is aborted so I have to remove that background. I can't seem to find any that will work for me.

Bubblegum...and Chocolate

I enjoyed my snow day...the office was closed because of the awful weather, so I did some work here at home & made some time to put this adorable gift together. I was given the direction that the person receiving this gift has chosen the "Bubblegum" bedding from Target for their little girl. The basic theme of the bedding is pink, brown & white with a circle print fabric. I hope she loves this useful little gift, three swaddling blankets & three burp cloths in the bubblegum & chocolate theme. What little girl won't love bubblegum & chocolate one day?!

So, I suppose we should just embrace this blizzard that is coming our way tomorrow. UGH! Another snow day, another day working at home. That isn't the bad part...the snow, ice & freezing temperatures are unbearable. I'm SO ready for summer time!

These personalized "scrap" blankets have been a huge hit! I take a theme or color scheme and make a patchwork type quilt with the child's initial on the blanket.
It was requested that I use a brown & green color scheme with turtles, frogs & giraffes. The fabric search was a little difficult for this one, they wanted mainly turtles...you wouldn't think that would be too hard to find. The color scheme was the easy part, fabric with turtles was the tough part. This is what I came up with...they LOVE it!

Alexander, Carter & Zachary are three lucky little boys! They each have their own special blanket to snuggle up with. My super sweet little nephew, Carter, has an airplane themed bedroom (Daddy's in the Air Force) in blues & greens. That theme was the inspiration for his "C" scrap quilt. My sister just loves it & one day Baby Carter will know that it was made with love!
Alexander & Zachary are two little boys, twins, who I don't know. I was asked to make a special blanket for each of them. I hope they will love their blankets as much as I enjoyed making them.

Baby Cakes

It was requested of me by a lady at work to make a beautifully cute diaper cake for a baby shower she will be attending. She said that their theme is elephants & music notes. She showed me an adorable shower invitation in a soft green & gray stripe with an elephant. Unfortunately, fabric with music notes & elephants is a bit hard to come by, so I improvised with a soft green flannel & a black & white polka dot fabric. I wrapped the diaper base with a swaddling blanket & some burp cloths, topped it off with a cute elephant and added some baby essentials & flowers to fill in the empty spaces. So far I've not created a diaper cake that my customer didn't love; I hope this is no exception.

We have a new addition coming to our family in May!!! I put this basket together for the new little girl! Everyone just loved it.
I made four swaddling blankets, a hooded towel, a baby carrier, a fleece & satin blanket & eight burp cloths. I added some sweet little summer outfits, a piggy bank & a few other baby necessities for her. I put all of the goodies in a super functional basket & added some flowers to make it even sweeter.

A necessity with any babe...

A beautiful necessity...extremely functional burp cloths with a bit of flare. Any hip, trendy mama would be proud to use these!
I began making these burp cloths after we had our first babe. I received something similar as a gift and I thought they were cool enough to re-produce them, although, a bit differently than the ones that I had received.
These particular burp cloths will soon be shipped off to my sister for her to use when my nephew is born.

Snuggy-Buggy After the Bath

I LOVE these hooded towels! As does everyone that I've made them for. I have made a number of these and given them as gifts and when the time comes that the people who I gifted them to need a gift for a baby or a child they come to me and ask me to make one for them to give.
These towels are acutally going to some kids who already have hooded towels that I've made. Their parents love the towels so much that they've asked for more. I am happy to oblige.
I use this kind of towel for my boys. They're always cold when they get out of the bath and I use these towels to wrap them up and keep them warm.

I was a sewing machine this weekend! I made so many things for my sister and my nephew. One of the cool things that I've added to my collection is this nursing cover. Simple, simple, simple! I made one for one of my girlfriends a while back and now this one is for my sister. I modified it just a bit. I've added a pocket to the inside of the cover! This would be a perfect place for extra nursing pads, burp cloth, lanolin...whatever you think you might need should fit in this generous pocket.

Another successful blanket buddy...

I am expecting a nephew soon and I just couldn't let him come into the world without a special buddy waiting for him.

This cuddly fella got shipped out in the mail today and should be settled into his crib in a day or so. I hope that little boy loves his buddy as much as my little guy loves his "Gary."

The search began about two and a half years ago...I was on a mission to find a blankie like Matson's "Gary," but to no avail. The blankie that I am "speaking" of is part stuffed buddy and part blanket. I have made a few attempts, but this is my first success. This sweet, soft pink cheetah blanket is the best kind of buddy for any child; made from super soft pink minky fabric with satin binding.
The front half of the cheetah is at one corner and the back half is at the opposite corner. The blanket measures 30" x 30".

Because I am going to use this blog as a marketing tool for my creative business so I can enjoy more times like this with my boys...I thought I should list all of the items that I create with what I charge for each item.

I sell everyone's FAVORITE...the simple SWADDLING BLANKET...for $15 each. These blankets measure approximately 43" x 43" and are made with two layers of fabric; a cotton flannel and a coordinating, lightweight cotton. Swaddling is a super way to calm a cranky baby and these blankets are just the right size for soothing!

HOODED TOWELS - These towels are so nice to have once your infant outgrows the itty-bitty hooded towels that you can buy at the store. Because I use full size bath towels your child can use them for years. I add a strip of colorful fabric to the hood to give it some interest and excitement for your child. I sell them for $18 each.

BURP CLOTHS - Super absorbent & functional as these burp cloths are made from cloth diapers. Again I add fabric and / or ribbon to the diapers to make them fashioable for today's trendy moms. The burp cloths are $4 each.

Not only do I make the popular swaddling blankets, but I also make soft, FLUFFY BLANKETS that your child can snuggle up with. These blankets are approximately 45" x 45", with a layer of quilt batting between two layers of coordinating cotton or cotton flannel fabric bound together with satin blanket binding. These blankets are $40 each.

DIAPER CAKES are a great baby gift idea! I can create any kind of diaper cake that you can dream up! I use a full package of size 2 diapers (approximately 48 diapers) and I add all things baby. From rattles to nail clippers; booties to binkies. The sky is the limit on these cakes! Please communicate with me on what you wish for me to make. You can set a specific budget, request a theme or a color scheme and I will create a fantastic gift that you will be proud to give. The price on these cakes will depend on your budget and how large you would like the gift to be.

And the latest item that I have attempted and been successful at is a NURSING COVER. I used my friend as a guinea pig and she said the cover worked great! You can see a picture of the nursing cover below. I sell the nursing covers for $30.

I'm going to try this out...My friend, Tanya, is going to be my guinea pig. She's going to let me know if this nursing cover works out for her. The cover measures 38" by 27" with a strap to go around your neck that hooks with "D" rings. This cover is large enough to keep everything hidden and still allows you to see your babe.

This is one of my "creations," a wonderful little side table that I made from a plantstand & a round table top. I found the plantstand & thought that it would make a great base, so I purchased a plain wood table top & painted it. Perfect for setting your cup of coffee & favorite book!
